SHIMANO Catana DX Trolling Lite 2.03m to 16lb

The CATANA DX Trolling Lite is ideal for trolling with natural baits and small artificial lures. The full carbon blank is remarkably slim, very sensitive and has the necessary power reserves to tame even strong fighting fish. The parabolic action of the blank allows the use of thinner lines. The Seaguide Stainless Steel ringing is mounted on the blank in a "spiral" shape. This configuration, which differs significantly from conventional ringing, guides the line from the top to the bottom of the rod, starting at the starter ring. This results in an improved line guide and drill performance. A lightweight aluminum reel seat complements the EVA front handle and ensures maximum comfort during the fight.

When using SHIMANO fishing rods and reels, it is essential to ensure the safety as well as the fishing experience of the user.

General safety information

Handle hooks with care: Always cover the fishing hooks or remove them from the rods for transport. Use corks or hook covers to avoid accidental injury.
Keep your distance: Fish at least 10 metres away from others to avoid accidents. Watch out for people behind you before casting.
Train beginners: Instruct children and beginners in the safe handling of rods and hooks to minimise risks. Safety distance: Always keep a distance of at least six metres from high-voltage power lines when carrying or using fishing rods.

Notes on safe use

Avoid high sticking: Do not bend your rod too much while you are drilling a fish, which is known as ‘high sticking’. Hold the rod at a maximum loading angle of 45 to 60 degrees to avoid breakage.
Aligning the rod for snags: If your lure snags, keep the rod pointed at the hook while walking backwards to reduce the strain on the rod.
Be careful with carbon fibre: Carbon fibre rods are strong but can be brittle. Avoid dropping them or banging them against hard surfaces as this can cause damage.
Safe transport: Always take your rod apart and place it in a protective cover during transport to prevent damage from external influences.
Carbon fibre rods conduct electricity. Do not use them during thunderstorms or near power lines.
Never try to pull bait or leaders out of trees or bushes by applying pressure to the rod and fishing line. This can result in the bait/lead being catapulted towards the angler. Use only your hands to free the bait/lead.
