One of the most popular angling and food fish is undoubtedly the torpedo-shaped trout, which is particularly at home in very clean and oxygen-rich water. Fishing on a beautiful mountain river, surrounded by picturesque nature, has a very special charm, as you can usually see and cast directly to your target fish and literally look your catch in the eye.
Depending on the time of year and water temperature, trout are agile and active from spring to autumn, while in the winter months they tend to be sluggish and loyal. Agile trout are best fished for with artificial lures; such as Spinner, Streamer or Wobbler, which appeal to the hunting instinct of the trout. Another fishing technique is trolling with Sbirolinos, which originated in Italy. This resembles a float and is used primarily as a casting weight rather than a bite indicator. Sbirolinos are balanced in such a way that they run just below the water surface or in mid-water when retrieved. Anything that convinces trout to bite can be used as bait, from small twisters to natural baits, such as bee maggots.
In the winter months, when the trout are loyal to their location, static baits are more effective. It's best to present fish such as buoyant trout dough just above the ground. Another option is to use an enticing food basket with bee maggots and particles.
