SHIMANO Sustain FJ 2500

The Sustain joins the Shimano Magnumlite reel family and features an MGL rotor, which is extremely smooth-running and guarantees outstanding lure control. The lightweight and stable HAGANE body provides additional weight reduction and also protects the inner workings of the reel perfectly. Available in sizes 2500 to C5000, the Sustain is suitable for light, medium and even large lures used when fishing in fresh and salt water. The satin black body with chrome accents is a real eye-catcher, but the real beauty of this reel lies in its feel and performance. Remarkably light in the hand, the rotor is incredibly easy to set in motion when cranking. Equipped with all of Shimano's high-end technologies, including the new Micro Module Gear II, Silent Drive and Long Stroke Spool for improved casting performance, the Sustain is an absolute top reel in the Shimano line-up. In combination with a Sustain spinning rod, you get a balanced and visually perfect setup.

When using SHIMANO fishing rods and reels, it is essential to ensure the safety as well as the fishing experience of the user.

General safety information

Handle hooks with care: Always cover the fishing hooks or remove them from the rods for transport. Use corks or hook covers to avoid accidental injury.
Keep your distance: Fish at least 10 metres away from others to avoid accidents. Watch out for people behind you before casting.
Train beginners: Instruct children and beginners in the safe handling of rods and hooks to minimise risks. Safety distance: Always keep a distance of at least six metres from high-voltage power lines when carrying or using fishing rods.

Notes on safe use

Avoid high sticking: Do not bend your rod too much while you are drilling a fish, which is known as ‘high sticking’. Hold the rod at a maximum loading angle of 45 to 60 degrees to avoid breakage.
Aligning the rod for snags: If your lure snags, keep the rod pointed at the hook while walking backwards to reduce the strain on the rod.
Be careful with carbon fibre: Carbon fibre rods are strong but can be brittle. Avoid dropping them or banging them against hard surfaces as this can cause damage.
Safe transport: Always take your rod apart and place it in a protective cover during transport to prevent damage from external influences.
Carbon fibre rods conduct electricity. Do not use them during thunderstorms or near power lines.
Never try to pull bait or leaders out of trees or bushes by applying pressure to the rod and fishing line. This can result in the bait/lead being catapulted towards the angler. Use only your hands to free the bait/lead.
