The new Airdrive design is the pioneer for future reel development at DAIWA and offers smoothness and sensitivity as never experienced before. By reducing the weight of the rotor, the spool and the bail arm, a lighter rotation without initial resistance is created, thus ensuring optimum smoothness. The 22' Exist is the first reel from the DAIWA program, which is manufactured with the new Airdrive concept. The reduction of the rotor weight not only reduces the effort required for starting, but also enables a faster stopping of the rotor and a quicker reaction to different retrieving speeds. With the new Airdrive spool, wall thicknesses and unnecessary weight have been reduced - in combination with the reduced rotor weight and reduced bail weight, this improves the balance of the entire front unit of the reel and offers better control when guiding lures. Unlike the inner workings of conventional spinning reels, DAIWA has developed a low-contact structure between the axle and the Pinion gear - the Airdrive Shaft. By implementing this technology, frictional resistance is reduced and the silent, smooth running is optimized. The combination of these elements creates the new Airdrive concept and enables the construction of extremely light and sensitive spinning reels. The Airdrive bail is the next evolution in bail design and fits perfectly into the new Airdrive concept. DAIWA has designed a slightly thinner bail, which still offers the required resilience and contributes to the additional weight reduction at the front part of the reel. Compared to the 18' Exist, the weight of the new Airdrive bail is reduced by 33%. The Twist Buster technology reduces the risk of unwanted line tangles and line twist. For the 22' Exist, the well-known Twist Buster II technology has been improved in further details and the new Twist Buster III construction has been developed. The new design reduces the flattening of the line during spooling and therefore produces significantly less line twist. A MagSealed line roller has also been integrated into the 22' Exist in order to withstand the high loads, especially when used in salt water.
