Away from the big catch, relaxation in nature is the driving force for many anglers. However, not only is a warm sleeping bag important, but the right fishing bed is also crucial for your back health.

The bedchair

The bedchair, also known as the carp bed, is ultimately the mattress replacement for spending the night on the water. The bedchair is not only comfortable, but also prevents the cold from passing through your sleeping bag from below thanks to the raised lying surface. To achieve this, the fishing bed stands on six to eight stable legs made of aluminum or steel. Mudflaps are often attached to the end of the adjustable legs so that your bedchair stands upright even on uneven ground.

The total weight of a bedchair varies depending on the size and material between 8 and 18 kg. The higher the comfort, the higher the weight. For larger bedchairs in particular, it is advisable to transport them to the fishing spot with a practical transport trolley.

The load capacity is another important purchase criterion. Depending on the model, this varies between 100 and 180 kg.

Gentle bedchairs measure 200 to 210 cm length and 75 to 95 cm width.

Functional scope & care

Many bedchairs are set up using a simple folding mechanism. After adjusting the individual legs, nothing stands in the way of a cozy night by the water. Most manufacturers allow the legs of the bedchair to be extended by up to 25 cm. Manufacturers such as FOX also offer the option of additionally securing the mud bed with pegs.

The hard-wearing upper material of bedchairs is generally very robust and easy to clean. Use commercial dishwashing liquid for cleaning. If the cover of your bedchair gets dirty, you can easily wash it in the washing machine.

Make sure that you always fold up the carp bedchair when dry. Otherwise, unpleasant mold can quickly develop.
