The match rod

The classic match rod consists of three parts and can be recognized above all by the above-average number of rings. As a rule, the rod has 11 to 16 small rings over its length, which protrude far from the blank. Generally, match rods have a length of 3.6 to 4.2 meters. In exceptional cases, however, they can also be up to 6 meters long.

Choose the casting weight depending on the type of fish. Light match rods have a casting weight of 2 to 12 grams and are perfect for fine lines, rigs and baits.

With casting weights from 5 to 30 grams, you can cast further and target larger white fish, such as damsels.

Match fishing is primarily designed for float fishing, where various float rigs such as wagglers are used. Wagglers are special handle-shaped floats that allow you to cast a long distance. Due to the low weight, the impact of the waggler float produces a low scaring effect. Another advantage is that the line runs along the lower part of the float and the main line is therefore under water.
