Like many peaceful fishing rods, feeder rods originally came to us from England. There they were mainly used for feeder fishing. The right feeder rod for every weight

To choose the right rod, you should familiarize yourself with some of the specifications of this type of rod. There are six different types of feeder rods, each of which should be selected according to the body of water to be fished and the target fish.

These different types naturally differ in terms of length and casting distance and, of course, weight. The heavier a rod is, the longer it is and the higher the casting weight can be. The particularly light rods with a low casting weight are used especially in stagnant waters in closer shore areas. The heavier rods can be used to cast larger feeders over longer distances.

If still waters are to be fished, a sensitive tip should be used. The faster the water moves, the more robust the tip needs to be so that the bites can still be felt.

Save every bite with the feeder rod

As described above, special attention should be paid to the tip of the feeder rod. This determines whether bites are noticed and the fish can therefore be hooked at the right moment. In still waters, it is important to use a very soft tip with the feeder rod. In waters with more current, harder tips are preferable so that they do not bend immediately when the fish is cast out with the feeder basket.

In order for the bites from the feeder rod to be noticeable, it is important that the line between the feeder basket and the bait is pulled taut. This allows the tip of the rod to react to even the smallest bites. In contrast to the tip, the backbone of the rod is particularly strong so that even heavy feeders can be cast particularly far.
