For beginners and novice anglers in particular, the subject of soft lures is a closed book. The selection of soft lures is huge and almost unmanageable. In principle, only two things are decisive when choosing the right soft lure: your target fish and the target water! How is a soft lure reeled in?

In order not to impair the handling of the soft lure later on, it is absolutely crucial that you mount the soft lure correctly on the lead head. Correct mounting ensures natural running behavior. The body of the soft lure should sit on the lead head with slightly more than half of its size. If you don't want to fit the soft lure with the right hooks yourself, we recommend purchasing ready-made assembled soft lure. However, this means you lose the flexibility to prepare the fish exactly as you need it for your purposes.

Choosing the right soft lure

You should adapt the colors of your soft lure to the respective light and water conditions. In clear water, it is best to use natural colors such as green or blue. If the sun is also shining brightly on the water, gold, silver and other glittering colors are ideal, which have an additional visual appeal to the predatory fish.

In cloudy conditions, neon colors are a good choice. These are easy for the fish to recognize even in bad weather and in deeper water layers. Especially in very murky water, in the twilight or on cloudy days, these rubber fish are ideal for celebrating maximum catching success.

The size of the soft lures should ideally be adapted to your target fish. For perch and zander, 6 - 12 cm long soft lures are ideal. When fishing for large pike, you can also use soft lures up to 30 cm long. In fall and winter, you can also tend to use larger soft lures than in spring or summer.
