Swivel & Snaps Browning

Welcome to brand store

As a passionate angler, your equipment should definitely include swivels, snaps and swivels. Like many other terminal tackle, these are used to set up your fishing rig correctly. The swivels are most commonly used when fishing with spinners and the snaps are most often used by predatory fish hunters.

Use of swivels & swivels

First of all, it should be said that these two types are not really different, because swivel means swivel. These swivels are often used as a connecting piece between the main fishing line and the leader line. Spinners in particular put a strain on the line due to their permanent twisting motion. As a result, the line is also permanently twisted, which can lead to the formation of beads.

Nanofilament lines are particularly susceptible to this twisting. Under certain circumstances, they can even tear and the line and fish can then be completely lost. Special triple swivels prevent this twisting of the line or restrict it, allowing you to cast and retrieve the spinner much more frequently with one line.

Of course, you can also use simple swivels for other fishing techniques or other bait. In principle, you almost always use swivels as the most stable transition possible between the line and leader, for example when float or bottom fishing.

Snaps and their areas of application

Snaps are also just the English word for carabiners. These are often even used in conjunction with swivels. They serve as an extra link between the swivel and the harness. Snaps offer the greatest benefit if you are equipped with a large number of different lures, which you want to change as quickly as possible so as not to miss any fish and waste valuable fishing time. Especially if you want to test new baits one after the other, this works all the faster.

Snaps differ in terms of their design. Standard carabiners are often used by peaceful anglers due to their simplicity. However, the additional small plate puts a spanner in the works for the predator anglers among you because it impairs the movement of the wobbler or soft lure.

In order to achieve this, you should ideally use so-called Duo Lock or Cross Lock Snaps, which are even more stable than Duo Lock Snaps. They can even withstand loads of up to 100 kg and are perfect for big game fishing. Both types open by squeezing together and allow a better distribution of force with the same running properties of the lures. In any case, snaps should always be made of very sturdy spring steel to prevent them from opening accidentally.
