Floaters

It is impossible to imagine a wide variety of fishing techniques without them, as they can make your life much easier and are the main component of many fishing rigs. We are talking about fishing poles that are attached to the main line. On the one hand, they serve as bite indicators and, on the other hand, help you to bring the line to the same depth with every cast.

The range of floats and their uses is extremely extensive. In general, there are two basic types of float. On the one hand, fixed floats, which have a fixed position on the fishing line, which is limited by stoppers and beads. Sliding floats, on the other hand, have freedom of movement along the line and are better suited to fishing in very deep waters.

Properties & differences between float types

Most floats are made of cork or wood and therefore have ideal swimming properties. The visibility of the float plays an extremely important role, as you will be alerted to a bite if the float sinks or drifts. In rivers and lakes, you should therefore preferably use orange floats, while in still water you should use black and white floats depending on the light conditions.

Variations of the standard float are, for example, electric floats. These are usually equipped with a battery that ensures that a lamp lights up at the tip of the float. Just like bend light floats, in which there is space for inserting a bend light, these floats are indispensable if you want to fish at night.

Pose mounts for various waters

In stagnant waters, you mainly use classic float poles, which have a slim and elongated shape. These usually have a higher center of gravity, which makes bite detection much more sensitive. These floats are most commonly used when hunting small white fish such as rudd, gusters and the like.

Waggler floats are ideal for standing and flowing water. Remember that the right weight plays an important role in any float assembly. Many manufacturers specify the load capacity of the floats. With the right amount of lead, you can ideally balance the float, giving the fish as little resistance as possible. If the resistance is too great, fish often shy away and are subsequently lost to you.
