In order to catch a fish at all, you need the right leader hook, which is attached to the end of your entire fishing rig. Leader hooks are similar in their basic construction and consist of a hook point, a bend, the longer shank and an attachment point. In this respect, the fishing hooks are similar, but exist in different versions for special techniques or target fish.

Almost all types of leader hooks are equipped with a barbed point. This ensures that the hook does not immediately slip out of the fish. This prevents you from leaving fish injured in the water after a hard fight and you can then land them and save them from suffering. Variations of leader hooks

The basic form of the leader hooks are treble hooks, which are equipped with an eye at the end of the shank to tie the leader into. Plate hooks do not have an eye but a plate, but are somewhat more difficult to tie. Dough hooks have an additional spiral along the shank, in which dough holds very well to attract fish when casting.

Special features for lures as live bait include leader hooks with barbs along the shank. You can attach the worms firmly to these, making them ideal for catching coveted game fish such as bream, perch or tench. Butter hooks are similarly equipped to be tipped with waders. You prefer to use these when sea fishing for flatfish.

Circle hooks are even more rounded at the point and bend in order to get a better grip on the fish during the fight so that it cannot escape. Special shapes of the hook are used for leader hooks for fly fishermen, where the hook is bent to fit into the complicated fly hook construction. Offset hooks are bent in front of the eye to ensure better flexibility for the rubber material used with them.
