In places where noisy petrol engines are prohibited on many waters, quiet and environmentally friendly electric motors are permitted. What's more, the electric motors are significantly lighter than their petrol-powered counterparts and can be driven by you up to an output of 15 hp without a driver's license. The significantly lower noise emitted by the electric motor significantly minimizes your scaring effect. Especially when trolling, this is an immense advantage when it comes to catching fish. However, the acquisition, operating and maintenance costs are also significantly lower compared to a combustion engine. The battery usually consists of a lead-acid battery and is very robust.

In contrast to a combustion engine, the power of an electric motor is not specified in horsepower. With electric motors, the power is specified in lbs (pounds). The higher the lbs value, the higher the thrust of your fishing boat. However, when buying an electric motor, pay attention to how big and heavy your boat is.
