Carp Lines

Carp Lines

Items 1 - 11 of 11

Carp rods

In addition to the carp rods and the carp reels, the carp lines are a very important component of the carp tackle. Finally, the fishing line is the direct connection to the fish. For carp fishing, both monofilament line and braided line can be used. Both types of line are very suitable for fishing for carp and show their advantages in different fishing conditions.

Advantages of monofilament carp lines

Monofilament main lines have a high stretch compared to braided lines. This is an advantage when fighting a strong carp. The elongation absorbs the rapid flight of a carp very well, which reduces the risk of the carp hook slipping out of the soft fish mouth during the fight.

Many great hotspots are located in the immediate vicinity of underwater obstacles, sunken pools, stone packs and mussel beds. This is where the high abrasion resistance of the monofilament carp line comes into its own. Thanks to this property, the fishing line can also withstand contact with sharp-edged obstacles during the fight.

Advantages of braided carp lines

Braided carp lines can also be used very well for carp fishing. The braided lines have a comparatively thin diameter with high breaking strain. This allows you to achieve long casting distances when distance fishing and also reach distant hotspots.

In contrast to a mono line, a braided fishing line has almost no stretch. This is advantageous if you present your carp reel with a closed reel brake directly in front of an obstacle. The carp has no chance of getting stuck there after the bite.

When using thinner braided main line, strike lines are recommended so that you don't cut your fingers during strong casts.

Monofilament and braided leader lines

Both braided and monofilament carp lines are used when tying carp rigs. A soft braided leader ensures that the boilies behave naturally on the hair when the carp grub at the feeding spot.

For mono line, fluorocarbon line is usually used in the construction of carp rigs. This type of line is almost invisible in the water, which reduces the scare effect on suspicious large carp when fishing in clear waters. This leader line is also quite stiff. This property comes into its own with powerful casts, which minimizes the risk of tangling the rig.
