Spinning Rods

Spinning Rods

Items 1 - 20 of 51

Spinning fishing is considered the supreme discipline among anglers. To master it, you need the right spinning rod. Spinning fishing involves fishing with an artificial lure. You cast the lure repeatedly and reel it in. The continuous movement of the lure simulates a weak target. This is particularly appealing to predatory fish, which is why they should be your main target.

Basic requirements for spinning rods

Spinning rods should generally be as light as possible, as you are constantly re-casting your line. Nevertheless, they should be made of stable materials such as carbon or other composite materials. As spinning fishing requires a lot of sensitivity, only the tip is usually flexible. Stiffness in the rest of the rod also guarantees that no power is lost when pulling in the fish.

The handle length also plays an important role. Short handles are easier to handle, but the handles of long rods should not be too short. A long handle not only has an effect on balance, but also offers greater leverage and better power transmission when landing.

You should also always pay attention to the rings. They can be damaged by the line if you cast too often. Hard lines can even damage the rings. Silicon carbide guides are ideal for spinning fishing.

Which spinning rod is the right one?

When buying a spinning rod, you should always consider the type of target fish and the location. When fishing from a boat, shorter rods are easier to handle and perfectly adequate. On the bank, you should use longer rods.

Pay attention to the maximum casting weight. If this is higher, you can also fish for larger fish. If the casting weight is too high or the fish too heavy, rods that are not designed for this can even break.

If you want to fish for perch or trout, rods with a length of less than 1.90 m and a casting weight of up to 10 g are suitable. If you want to hunt larger fish, you need a rod with a higher casting weight. 7-28 g are suitable for zander fishing and with 40-70 g you can even fish for pike.
